A house we carry

Henge

Henge is a young house, founded in 2011 by Paolo Tormena with the architect Isabella Genovese. Massimo Castagna has been its art director from the start and designs much of the catalogue. The registered office is on Via della Spiga in Milan, but production happens in the Veneto, at Farra di Soligo, in Prosecco country.

The subject here is raw material. Stone, marble, solid timber, patinated metal and glass, sourced worldwide and then worked by hand in Veneto workshops the company says it revived rather than replacing with standardised production. The Sisma table rests its top on two or three legs cut into irregular shapes from Rapolano travertine. Oxymoron pairs solid walnut with a structural metal base. Synapse is an oval stone table whose whole presence comes from the thickness of the material.

That approach means real variation from piece to piece: grain, patina and finish never repeat exactly. It is the opposite of series furniture, and worth knowing before ordering several of anything. The catalogue reflects it, organised into numbered series from S34/1 to S34/5 rather than product names.

Artopia carries Henge in Geneva, for projects where furniture is treated as part of the interior architecture rather than as decoration.
