A house we carry

IGN

IGN is Swiss, based at Ruswil in the canton of Lucerne. The name comes from its founder's middle name, Markus Ignatius Müller, who started the brand in 2008; the joinery it grew out of has been working solid timber since 1921. Since October 2020 it has belonged to Vogel Design AG, run by Christian Vogel, who trained as an apprentice under Müller.

Solid wood is the whole subject: tables, office furniture, beds and bedside tables, living room pieces, all made in the Ruswil workshop. Oak, walnut, Swiss pine. One principle sets the house apart: the client picks the actual piece of timber before it is worked. Species, dimensions, edge profile and finish follow from there.

This is workshop commissioning rather than an editor's catalogue, with the trade-off that implies. Decisions come early, and the piece takes time to make.

Artopia carries IGN in Geneva. With this house the conversation starts with the wood, not with the model.
