Maison Chaix is the rug line of Chaix Décoration, a family business in Nice which the site dates to 1936 and which claims four generations of continuity. The main showroom is on rue Paul Déroulède in Nice.
The rugs are hand-tufted and made in France, either from the ready-to-lay collection or fully bespoke: size, shape, colours and pattern are all configurable, with a stated lead time of eight to ten weeks. The models carry short names, Chiara, Suna, Aspen, Manhattan, Carrare, and come from the in-house design studio rather than from signed collaborations.
This is the only supplier in the selection whose trade is the floor. That changes the order of decisions: a rug is chosen after the furniture, according to what it has to hold together in the room. Bespoke sizing earns its keep as soon as dimensions fall outside standards, which happens often in older apartments.
