A house we carry
It started with a school trip. Jannik Weich discovered Peru and alpaca at sixteen, in 2009; he met David Kuttschrütter in California in 2015, and by their own account the two founded the label in September 2017. The company behind it today, WEICH Textil GmbH, has been registered in Mainz since 29 October 2019, two dates of a different nature that the company does not comment on.
The material is alpaca, both as tanned hide and as spun fibre. Raw material and early prototypes come from Peru, where the founders selected the workshops themselves. The range covers throws, cushions, rugs and hot water bottle covers, along with a few seats upholstered in alpaca, including a butterfly chair and the Toe Chair.
So this is a textile and accessories house rather than a furniture producer, and a young brand rather than a long-established manufacturer. It claims more than two hundred stockists across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
